We knew we wanted a place of our own, but we also knew owning a home is not cheap. Especially when you are looking for land near a major city. We stayed with family for half a year saving every penny we could manage and researching first-time home buyer grants. Then, when we were at our wits end and about to give up - I said a little prayer.
Now, I am not a fan of organized religion. But I do believe faith is a powerful thing for humanity. I said a little prayer - after much coaxing from my mother, whose belief is impenetrable. The next morning I woke up and decided to look online. A farm we had been watching for months, popped back up with a lower price than before.
"How is this possible?!" we thought. We had watched it come online before, gawked at how far above our price range it was, and flipped through the images fantasizing. We cooed and clucked like two hens on a picket fence about it having all of our dream wish list items. And yet, here it was back on the market almost $60k less than before.
Now, Brady is quick to chalk things up to coincidence. I, on the other hand, had a gut feeling this was happening for a reason. Not even 10 minutes later, we receive an email from our loan officer (who handled our pre-approval) informing us that a new down payment and closing cost assistance program was just announced in the exact county the farm is located in.
This program paid so much of our closing and down payment costs, we only had to front a few hundred bucks. I am not kidding!
To top it off, our realtor informs us that the previous buyers got all the way to the closing table and it fell through. The sellers, in a rush to move to another state (where they already started their new jobs), were in such a hurry they dropped the price to sell quick and were willing to leave all appliances behind. Out of the 3 offers they received in 24 hours, like I said- hot market, they chose ours!
Less than a month later, we were at the closing table. The day we signed our closing papers there was a global lunar event called the Blood Moon. It was the largest lunar eclipse of the century during a supermoon, which caused the full moon to appear bright red. The planets literally aligned for us. We knew in our gut this was the next step in our journey.
And as metal as it sounds, Blood Moon Farm seemed a bit intense for such a happy place. So we settled on Healing Moon Farm & Ranch™.
And that's how the cookie crumbles.
